A year of reflection
This month marks one year since the beginning of changes in our society as a result of the pandemic. Some have been confined to their homes for months on end while others have been working as essential staff throughout. There has been lots of changes while things seemingly are at a stand still. What changes have you noticed in yourself? What things can you be proud of this year? These don’t have to be accomplishments or productivity-related goals, but rather ways you have cared for yourself and others during these times. Maybe making it through this past year is enough to celebrate. Give yourself credit for making it through an incredibly difficult time. I hope that you will make time to reflect on the things you have done this year and ways that you have adapted. Maybe that means you reached out for help, from a friend or a professional, when things got really tough. Maybe you took this time to figure out a new way to do things moving forward. Maybe it was a chance to slow down and take a look at how you would like to be spending your time. Wherever you find yourself today, whether it is grieving, struggling with mental health, guilty that you have been better off than others, sad, exhausted, or just plain apathetic; please be kind to yourself and remember how much you have been through this year.
