Hey! I’m Melanie, pronouns she/her. I won’t bore you with a bunch of therapy jargon or tell you about every job I’ve ever had but instead I’ll just tell you what it’s like to work with me. I see therapy as a place to bring all the crap you’ve been lugging around for way too long, dump it on the floor, and sort through it. If you’re like most of us, it’s going to be messy, but no judgment here. Together, we can decide what’s important and what can be discarded. The therapy room does not have to be some uptight tea party where we all act like we have it together. None of us do, and that’s totally fine. I’ll support you, offer encouragement, and won’t bat an eyelash if you drop an F-bomb (or 12) in session. Seriously, this is the place to just let it all out so you can leave any and all of what is not serving you behind. I am LGBTQ affirming, sex positive, and open to talking about whatever it is you’re going through. I work on understanding the privilege I hold by being white, cisgender, and straight more and more each day and want to provide a space where we can examine your life through the lens of the very real -isms that exist in our society.

And now for the boring stuff….

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP) in the state of Virginia. I have a MS in Rehabilitation and Clinical Counseling as well as a BS in Psychology.
